Joint Meeting with Warren County Board of Commissioners and Board of Education

Each year, the Warren County School District hosts a joint meeting between the Warren County Board of Education and the Board of County Commissioners. This meeting provides an opportunity for the school district to show the commissioners some of the achievements as well as challenges that they face. This year the main focus was showing the Literacy program that has been implemented. Students from the Elementary Schools demonstrated to the Commissioners and Board of Education how effective the program has been. In addition to the Literacy program, Presentations were made by other staff members highlighting several other programs and initiatives.


A dinner was held prior to the meeting for the Board of Education and County Commissioners.



Dr. Keidra Whitaker, Director of Human Resources provides the reflection before dinner. 



School Board Chair, Ebony Talley- Brame, welcomes everyone to the dinner. 





Superintendent, Dr. Ray Spain, welcomes the group and reviews the agenda. 






T. Davis, Chairman of the Warren County Commissioners thanks Dr. Spain for organizing this meeting and introduces the other commissioners.






Chelsa Jennings, Director of Curriculum and Instruction introduces the Literacy Program to the group.


Dr. Caitlin Ryan, Literacy Consultant with East Carolina University, explains how the program is organized and working in Warren County. 



The students read and share a story with the Board of Education and the County Commissioners.











Cathy Alston- Kearney, Director of Student Success, talks about the Anti- Bullying Programs that are being utilized in the district. 


Debra Clayton, Coordinator of Testing and Accountability and Delores Pulliam, Cheif Finance Officer present on testing and finance procedures in the district. 




Dr. Keidra Whitaker discusses recruitment and retention of teachers.


Dr. Frank Polakiewicz, Assitant Superintendent for Administration discusses school safety issues.


Dr. Spain thanks to the County Commissioners and the Board of Education for their willingness to work together.
